At School of Commerce & Management, the Student Council fosters a sense of leadership, accountability, and community. It bridges the gap between students and the administration.
Formation of the Student Council:
The Student Council is formed through a comprehensive selection process that identifies dedicated and capable student leaders. The process ensures that the council is composed of responsible and enthusiastic individuals who are eager to make a difference.
Roles and Responsibilities of the Student Council:
The Student Council is structured with clearly defined roles, allowing each member to contribute effectively to the smooth functioning of student affairs.
1. President
Acts as the official spokesperson for the student body and leads all council meetings with a focus on collaboration and transparency. Oversees the planning and execution of various council initiatives while representing student concerns to faculty and administration. Sets the tone for student leadership, encourages participation, and drives a culture of engagement and responsibility.
2. Vice-President
Supports the President in leadership duties and decision-making, stepping in when needed to fulfil presidential responsibilities. Encourages interdepartmental collaboration, ensures the implementation of council policies, and assists in resolving conflicts. Plays a key role in student outreach and strengthening internal coordination.
3. Secretary
Maintains accurate records of meetings and decisions while ensuring timely and effective communication within the council. Coordinates with faculty and administration on all council-related matters. Oversees documentation, filing, and manages follow-ups and action items to ensure smooth functioning.
4. Cultural Secretary
Plans and executes cultural events, festivals, and extracurricular activities that promote creativity and inclusivity. Collaborates with student clubs and cultural groups to showcase diverse talents and traditions, contributing to a vibrant campus life and student engagement.
5. Sports Secretary
Organises intra- and inter-college sports events and encourages active student participation in physical activities. Coordinates with teams, coaches, and management for event execution while managing sports infrastructure. Promotes fitness, discipline, and team spirit within the student community.
6. NSS Representative
Leads initiatives focused on social responsibility, including community service, awareness campaigns, and volunteering programs. Encourages students to participate in civic activities and environmental causes. Builds connections with NGOs and external organisations to extend the impact of NSS efforts.
7. Lady Representative
Advocates for the interests and well-being of female students on campus. Addresses safety, inclusivity, and empowerment through awareness programs, workshops, and support initiatives. Serves as a key link between the female student body and the council to ensure representation and action.
8. SC Representative
Represents students from scheduled and underrepresented groups, ensuring their concerns and needs are addressed. Works toward promoting diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunities. Provides academic and emotional support and contributes to the creation of equitable policies
9. Class Representatives
Serve as communication links between students and faculty, relaying academic feedback, suggestions, and grievances. Assist in organising both academic and extracurricular activities and ensure class-level participation in institutional events. Represent their peers in council meetings and contribute to decision-making.
